How do I stop my MacBook Air (M2, 2022) from autobooting when I open the lid or press keys?

I want to be able to clean my MacBook Air's screen and keyboard without having it on, but Apple seems to prevent that at all costs. I absolutely hate this feature!

That particular feature cannot be disabled.

Even though it was written to address a specific concern with the type of keys used on certain MacBook Pro models, you can clean the keyboard as described in How to clean the keyboard of your MacBook Pro - Apple Support.
