Connect 2013 MacBook Pro to TV

Because my wifi goes in & out, I want to connect my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, late 2013) to the HDMI port on my TV via cable. I have gotten conflicting advice about what cable (and adapter!) I must buy. Help, please!

I think this is what you are looking for: USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter - Apple. It has HDMI and USB-A. With the female Thunderbolt port, you will not lose the port for other usage, such as charging your Mac.
