The music on my old iMac did not transfer to my new iMac. Mush of it is CDs that I recorded from records.

Did you follow the steps in Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant, if you did then your music was NOT being backed up in the first place. So simply copy your music library and drag it to the Music app.

I did use the migration but it did not work.
Where was your music stored on the old computer? The music app on the new Mac is in the Applications folder, it also may already be on your Dock. You can also launch the Music app (or any app) by using Spotlight (the magnifying glass in the upper right of your display) and in Spotlight just type Music.app and it will launch.
All my music is in the Music App on my old iMac which is in my dock.
None of my music transferred over and my Music App on my new iMac is empty.
Is there some way to transfer it from the old to the Cloud and then bring it into the new one? I am sure there would be a cost but that is fine.
On the old Mac, open the Music App - Preferences and it will show you were the library is stored. Simply navigate to that location, find the library and drag it onto the Music App on the new Mac and it will be imported onto the new Mac.
I went to the Preferences in my music app and checked to share my entire library on my local networks. It showed where it is stored but how do I drag it from my old computer (2009) to my new one. They have different mouse connections. Sorry to be such a problem. Would there be anyway to transfer it to a USB stick and bring it into the new one that way. I guess I would have to figure out how much space is taken up by my music. I also have an external hard drive for backup. Could I transfer the music that way?

After you know where the music library is, you use Finder to navigate tom that location. then once you have navigated there you copy the library and paste it onto a flash drive or an external HD or DVD and then once copied you connect the media (flash drive etc..) into the new Mac and then drag it to the media app. Also, is there a reason you have not called AppleCare, they can help you much quicker than a forum. If you are in the US call 800-275-2273.
How did you attempt to transfer them? If you used Migration Assistant then the music (and everything else except Mac OS) migrated.
I am not sure how to copy the whole library and drag It to the Music App I am not sure where the Music App is. I am not too tech savey.

I did contact Apple Support and they said the best way to transfer my music is either by using a USB stick or an external hard drive. Thank you for all your help and suggestions.
