Update to iOS 14.8 on my iPhone 6s ends in in error

It is not possible to update to iOS 14.8. The update will install iOS 15.6.1.

Indeed. You can only update to 15.6.1 through the proper method. Where are you trying to install 14.8 from?

That is not what will be installed if your proceed with the update. iOS 15.6.1 will be installed.
