Why can’t I reset or turn off my screen time passcode?

Why can’t I reset or turn off my screen time passcode? I have an iphone X and I tried to change the passcode and then turn it off. But whatever I do it doesn’t seem to respond and just shows “failed attempt.”

iPhone X, 15

These are the minimum requirements to reset the ScreenTime passcode:

  • The device must run iOS/iPadOS 13.4 or later;

AND

  • You must know the Apple ID & Password that were used to set up that ScreenTime Passcode.

If you meet both above requirements, these are the instructions:--> If you forgot your Screen Time passcode – Apple Support

Shouldn't be this case, you need to erase that device following these instructions (even if related to the passcode to lock/unlock device's screen):--> If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support

The bad news is that you cannot restore data from a backup, since the ScreenTime passcode would come back in.

Hi Giulio,

I meet both above requirements. Yet it's not working. After I tried to change my screen time passcode and used my apple id and password, it returned me to the failed attempt screen. And now I have had 7 attempts. So I don't want to get blocked out of my phone. And all I am trying to do is to set up my Apple carplay on. Can I do it without getting into Screen time? Carplay doesn't show in my general settings.

Thanks

Asya

If Carplay option is not in Settings>General... it's not an "allowed" app, in Screentime>Content&Privacy restrictions>Allowed Apps.

That said, are you sure that you're using the Apple ID&Password that were used to set up the existing screentime passcode?

Shouldn't be this case, you're not meeting both requirements.

Regards

Giulio
