Can you use the dual sim with 2 different carriers (ie my personal phone is ATT and my work is Verizon)
For example my personal phone is ATT and my work is Verizon. It is awful carrying 2 separate phones.

Yes you ABSOLUTELY CAN use a single device w/ 2x carriers … as long as the device is NOT carrier locked to a single carrier.

but i believe the cause of dual sim is for people who travel to other countries I would assume as much
