External display use lid closed unplugged from electric

I would like to close my MacBook Pro (M1 chip) and use the external monitor. However, the only way to do that is to plug the electrical power source which it not ideal because it will wear out the battery like it did my other Macbook's battery. Any other options? Thanks in advance!

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 12.5

Keeping the computer plugged in does not wear out the battery. When the computer is connected to the mains, it is not using the battery.
