Hi I have an apple balance from a gift card. I would like to redeem it to purchase an app. It says I must update payment method however I want to redeem the gift card not register my credit card. Can you please advise

When redeeming a gift card, the amount will be credited to your (1) Apple ID balance and (2) you need to set your Apple ID balance as your default payment.
