What OS are you on now?

Sounds like you may have gotten a Combo Updater that requires an earlier 10.15.x version, instead of the whole Installer?

Hi, i would happily allow installer except i get “macOS 10.15.6 Update can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."

forum indicates that i should convert from Macos extended to AFPS, but it is greyed out in Disk Utility, presumably because it is the boot disk.

in any case, I use Time Machine as my current back up strategy. Is this likely insufficient?
