Just as the title says. This has been a known issue for over 5 years. If you are currently playing a song in Apple Music on Mac OS and add the song to your Library, regardless of the version or update, the program will stop playing the song as if nothing was ever playing in the first place.
It seems that this issue has been severely overlooked for a long time and I'm wondering when this problem will be addressed.

What method are you using to add the new song to the library? Is there an alternate method that doesn't cause this issue? E.g. drag & drop, File > Import (or Add to Library), copy files to Automatically Add to Music folder. Are you using AirPlay at the time?
Report the issue via Feedback - macOS - Apple. Reported issues are more likely to get fixed than those people just live with.

I've tried multiple methods of adding the song to the library and it still happens without fail. It seems to always be when I'm using a bluetooth connected audio device, including AirPod Pros.
Same thing happens to me! It is so annoying.
