Dictation not working with AirPods 2nd gen after update to iOS 16

Dictation stopped working with AirPods 2nd gen after update of iPhone to iOS 16. Any suggestions? Siri and Dictation are not working. I am still able to listen to content and calls with the AirPods. My AirPods are only a few months old. The newer gens are too uncomfortable to wear for extended periods.
