Turn on Wi-Fi in macOS

My 76 yo neighbor spilled some water on her MBA. She quickly dried it. Everything woks fine…well, almost everything. The wifi and bluetooth are are set to “off” and when you click on “turn on” nothing happens. I did a screenshot to share but because there is no wifi or bluetooth, I can’t get it off of her MBA. I tried saving it to a USB thumb drive but it says her hard drive is “read only”. I tried chasing the privileges to “Read-Write” but it says her “user” doesn’t have the privilege to change (I looked at her “user” name in Preferences and she is the “Admin”.

I’ve tried restarting in Safe Mode but to no avail.

Would appreciate any guidance on resolving this for her.
