Hi donjohn41,

Welcome to the Apple Community.

Re: How can I get Safari to run on my iMac?

Seems macOS Catalina 10.15 is installed on your iMac.

Wondering if you might want to update to a newer version of Safari, which comes along with the newest Mac OS.

and whether your iMac model is compatible with more recent Mac OS versions.

To find out which which iMac model (year) you are using: Identify your iMac model – Apple Support

iMacs introduced in late 2015 or later can be updated to Mac OS Monterey 12.6

iMacs 2014 upwards can be updated to macOS Big Sur 11.6

iMacs from 2012 to 2013 can be updated to macOS Catalina 10.15.7

How to: Connect to the internet with your Mac – Apple Support

If you are connected to the internet:

Safari should open for use by clicking the white and blue Safari icon in the dock.

(If the icon is missing from the dock, you would need to look for it in, and click to open it from, the "applications" folder)
