Hello ehosca,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with sharing to groups in Messages. Have you tried restarting your iPhone? This simple step resolves a multitude of issues: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

"How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, or 13

Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.

Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.

To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."

If that doesn't resolve the issue, does your iPhone need updating to iOS 16.0.2? Do you have a recent backup for the data in your iPhone in iCloud or your computer? If not, we recommend that you create one as described here: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Then update your iOS as outlined here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

I upgraded to 16.0.3 on my iPhone 14 Pro and it didn’t fix it. I see others are posting the same issue here but no official word on a fix. The workaround is to copy and paste (instead of trying to use the “share’” icon) to existing group chats. :( I have been using my iPad Pro (iOS 15.7) to “share” articles/pictures to my family iMessage group chat now until Apple finds a fix. The “sharing” icon works just fine on my wife’s iMessage family group chat on her iPhone 13 Pro so there is something weird going on.

Hey ehosca,

In that last response, it looks like updating your iPhone was also recommended. Were you able to go ahead and give that a shot as well? If not, that would be the next best step from here.

If the issue is still continuing to occur after that, we would recommend checking if the apps you're experiencing this in have been downloaded from the App Store. If so, double check to make sure that they are all fully up to date. Updating apps can often resolve issues with unexpected behavior: How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support

Finally, if you're still not having any luck, we'd recommend getting in touch with Apple directly. This will enable an advisor to work with you one on one, getting more information and looking into further troubleshooting to resolve this issue with you.

We hope that this information is helpful.

Have a great day!
