I don't know how to update this cellphone

You need about 6 GB device storage and good Service & Wi-Fi.

If they are On, turn Off Hotspot & VPN.

Charge the battery > 70%.

Go into you your settings, app looks like a cog. Then go into your apple settings and if you need an update it will tell you.
