Apple TV no longer installs any app

I have an Apple TV 4K (2nd gen) and have been using it fine for some time. Have several apps installed. For some reason it no longer will install ANY new apps.

Apple TV has the latest OS. I unplugged and restarted it. But when I go to the App Store, find any app (one I have downloaded before or one I’ve never), click download... I just get the spinning wheel forever.

I have connectivity as I’m streaming on Netflix (app I installed mo the ago).

I tried updating DNS to 1.1.1.1 per a suggestion. No dice.

I did recently get a new FiOS router but didn’t do anything like block ports or any kind of traffic. All defaults. Perhaps something with the new router?

This device is becoming useless if I can no longer install apps. Any ideas?

Hey abfield,

Those are all great steps that you tried on your own already. For your final step, let's also try restoring your Apple TV back to factory settings. Here's how:

1. Go to Settings > System > Reset.
2. Choose a reset option:
Reset: This option is the fastest way to return your Apple TV to factory settings. This option doesn't require an Internet connection.
Reset and Update: This option returns your Apple TV to its factory settings and installs software updates. This option requires an Internet connection.
3. Keep your Apple TV plugged into power until the Reset process finishes.

Reset or restore your Apple TV to its factory settings

Once that has been done, let us know if it helps!

Best regards.

I will contact Apple support but somethings strange just happened so I thought I would post here in case it triggers any ideas. I was using my AppleTV an out of nowhere a screen popped up and said to confirm the purchase of the HBO max app on another Apple device. HBO max was one of the apps that I tried to install a few days ago. Out of nowhere it popped up and pushed a notification to my iPhone, which I accepted, and now the app is installing. It is taking absolutely forever to install, however. I still can’t install other apps naturally from the App Store. I am hardwired and stream just fine on this device. Strange that out of nowhere it would prompt me for an app I tried to download two days ago.
