Group iMessage not available in photos.

After updating to IOS 16, my iPhone XR will no longer let me select a group iMessage name to send to within another app, such as photos. Example, I go to photos and try and send a picture to a group, that’s already set up and are all on iMessage. The group will not auto populate and does not exist within the app. However it does show up within the message app.

Can't send a photo to a messaging group from photos app by using group name I've been part of a group chat for a long time. Let's say the group name that shows up in the messaging app is "Fungroup". If I go into that chat in the message app I can text or add pictures to send. But I used to be able to go into the photos app, pick a photo, click the send icon, choose messages, and then type "Fungroup" in the "To:" line. This no longer works as of a few months ago. I can pick a photo and choose, one by one, all of the group members but typing the group name no longer works. Is there a way to fix this?

Not receiving photos in group messages I'm in a group chat that includes an Android user. Sometimes I don't get photos sent be others in the group, from iPhone users and Android users alike. All the other iPhone users say they are receiving the photos. Is there a setting on my device that might be the cause of this?

Issues with Group Chat in Messaging Since 16.0 Update Since the iOS 16.0 update, I am experiencing issues relative to Group Chats in Messaging. Prior to this update, if I wanted to share a picture, or any other attachment from my iPhone 12, to a Group Chat in Messaging, from the picture or attachment itself, I would select Share, then Messaging, then type the first few letters of the Group Chat’s name, and it would autocomplete for me to send. Since the update, not only does the autocomplete function not work, I can type in the entire name of the Group Chat and it won’t come up. I can completely delete that Group Chat, rebuild it from scratch, create an entirely new Group Chat with new people, it doesn’t matter. I cannot bring up ANY Group Chat Messages using the old process of sharing a photo or any other attachment that I outlined above. I can still see all of my Group Chats in Messaging, and from the Search bar at the top of Messaging, I can search for and find these Group Chats. So I have a temporary workaround in the way of going to the Group Chat directly and attaching a photo or any other attachment there. But this is a workaround. We need a fix to this issue. If you search up this issue outside of these forums, you will find a number of different ongoing discussions on this issue, it’s happening to a lot of users. Basically anyone who has done the 16.0 update and sends pictures to Group Chats in Messaging is going to experience this issue. I could not find an existing discussion in these forums so I thought that I’d post here as well.

Hello Frogman295,

If you're unable to share from the Photos app to group messages, you can start with the basics. Restart the device and make sure it is up to date.

Update your iPhone or iPad

If you're still unable to share from the Photos app to group messages, you'll want to contact Apple for additional troubleshooting assistance: Get Support They'd be the best hands possible to take a deeper look at this with you.
