I updated my Apple password, and my Apple watch is asking me to enter it - but will not accept the (correct, I double checked it) new password. How do I get it to accept this, or am I now locked out of my watch?

For now it seems to be working, albeit (I presume) under my old pw. I really would rather not lose all my data/settings - particularly the fitness ones, as these work for my limited needs on the watch, and are not backed up on my phone (as I don't need or want to pay for the subscription to the fitness app there.)
I decided to try my old pw (though I assumed it wanted the new one - and that the fact I changed it was the reason for the prompt. It accepted my old one, but not my new one - Huh?
Unpair the watch if you can and re-pair it using your new Apple id.
If you have 2 different apple id's then it isn't going to work,I would suggest what I said earlier and unpair the watch and re-pair it with your new apple id.
