Whenever I go to type in my home Wi-Fi password it say unable to join network also when I try to put the Wi-Fi password on my MacBook air m2, it says I need a WPA2 password.

Check your router settings -> Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support

 

If they are On, turn Off Hotspot & VPN.
