Incoming calls disconnect

My iPhone 12, IOS 16.0.3, disconnects incoming calls after one ring. I do not have FaceID. The person calling is displayed and before I can answer, I am disconnected.

Hello Inspector Javert,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

We can understand wanting to resolve any issues you're having with incoming calls. Have you reached out to your carrier to discuss the amount of time that they have set for you to receive a call before it's sent to your Voicemail? If not You may want to start there.

Try to make an outgoing call. Do calls drop immediately there? If so, this would be another indication that the issue may be related to the cellular network. If possible remove the SIM card from the iPhone 12 and test that in another iPhone if the issue remains, this rules out the issue being related to the iPhone. You will want to contact the carrier and let them know that the issue is following the SIM card so they can take care of the issue on their end.

If the issue does not follow the SIM to the test phone, you'll want to try a few steps to solve the issue:

  1. If you have not tried already, please restart your iPhone. Restart your iPhone - Apple Support. We know this sounds like a simple step, but sometimes a fresh restart can correct unusual behavior that pops up.
  2. Check to see if Do Not Disturb is enabled or if you have a Focus set on your device. If they are, verify the settings and disable or change the settings to set your needs. Here's a guide to help: Use Do Not Disturb with Focus on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support.
  3. Do you have any available carrier settings updates for your iPhone? To check, go to Settings > General > About. If an update is available, you'll see an option to update your carrier settings.

If the issue remains you can contact Apple directly for further assistance: Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support.

Kind regards!
