You might want to consider changing your Apple ID password and making sure it is a strong one. You can also add 2 Factor Authentication to your account for more security. If the attempts continue, you might want to consider a name change.

You can change your Apple ID email address on your current Apple ID so you retain access to your data and prior purchases. Note the restrictions in the article.

What makes you believe it wasn’t? Any software operating system can be hacked into or I should say taken over. That’s why there are software updates. Even then there will always be new vulnerabilities therefore a new software update, it’s a viscous cycle. The more advanced technology becomes the more advanced these not very kind people who do not care about personal privacy or personal property, will become as well. I think I can say yes it does happen because of personal experiences where I had to completely create a brand new iCloud account with a new Apple ID and everything from scratch. It was the very very last option that the Apple Support Advisor and I had decided was needed because we tried everything we could to fix all the various issues I had been having. Also thank goodness for Apple’s 2FA because another time someone had gotten a hold of my credentials, merely 3 hours after I had just changed my Apple ID password. So the only way I knew was the 2FA notification requesting a code. So it is possible.
