I would like textedit to open in a fresh document. Now it shows me existing documents on the desktop.
I looked in the preferences but there is nothing to be found.
Could anyone please advise how to?

System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud > iCloud Drive > Options. Uncheck TextEdit.
