Bad connections/trouble hearing on apple watch

I have the cellular apple watch series 8 and am having trouble hearing callers & they can't hear me.

Suggestions please??

I hope it's just that the volume needs to be changed.

I guess that means, "No!"

The little watch will never be as loud as an iPhone, I'm afraid. My preference is earphones. I'm putting off the hearing aid decision.
