When opening the Weather app it shows me a w window and a side bar that is not needed. How do I make it stop?

Whenever I open the Weather app it pops up an unnecessary window and it has the side bar on the left extended. How can I make it not do either of those things?

I want it to look like this when I open it. Don’t make me tap extra buttons every time.

When launching the new iPad Weather App, yes, the sidebar is visible by default.

As for why Apple’s Developers chose to code this behaviour, we might only speculate. That said, Apple do invite submission of constructive comment and feature requests via its Product Feedback portal. If you would like to see this behaviour change, this would be the most appropriate channel through which to express your views:

As for your second question, each of the main window elements can be individually expanded to provide more detail.

Yes I know. What I was trying to say is that why the heck is the sidebar extended by default? I don’t need to access my locations all the time. What I need is info on my current/main location.

Secondly, what about the pop up window? What is the point of that?

I included 2 screenshots. The second screenshot shows what I want (what should) be visible when opening the app.

The sidebar and the pop up is completely unnecessary.

How do I fix this?
