How to update my 10.10.5 OS X Yosemite?

So when I download apps it won’t let me because it will say “Can’t be installed on Macintosh HD because 10.15 or later is required.” But when I go to software update there are no updates available?

..AshtonB55..

There are specific download links to get an upgrade for later macOS versions.

• How to download macOS - Apple Support

//support.apple.com/en-us/HT211683

And those are specific with details to get a download from this site.

Some of those are too new for an older mac OS to use; however 10.15.7 has a

few problems with hoping to get and use that. ~ You may need to choose a

not quite so new macOS, such as Mojave 10.14.6; before attempting Catalina.

Depending on the 'hardware build date model and year' the choices will vary.
