Apple Mail keeps moving a sent email from Sent folder to Inbox in Ventura

Since upgrading to Ventura, Apple Mail has starting moving a couple of my sent emails from the Sent folder into my Inbox on my M1 iMac. It has happened twice. The first time it happened, the sent email showed in both my Sent folder and in my Inbox. If I moved the one in my Inbox to the Sent folder, the Sent folder would not show a duplicate, and as soon as I revisited the Inbox, that single sent email would reappear in my Inbox. I finally deleted that email because it was an annoyance.

It is now happening with another sent email. In my Inbox, I happen to display the Mailbox folder, and in the Inbox, that email show the Sent folder in the Mailbox column.

Thank you, jfcemay! That explains it; in Ventura, in Settings for Mail, I went to General and unchecked "Enable message follow up suggestions". In my case, the phantom copy in my Inbox of my Sent mail of a few days ago disappeared, while the actual Sent copy remained.

Apple: This is just bizarre. First, you turned on this "feature" for us without asking us. Second, its implementation is just weird; putting a phantom copy of our Sent email in our Inbox, with a status of "read" (past tense), with no other explanation? And there is no way to get rid of this phantom "follow up" copy of the email except to delete it, which also deletes the real Sent version?

Apple: I can take care of my own follow-up, thank you very much. I don't need a poorly-implemented automated solution implemented without explanation.

I think this is related to the new reminder suggestions in Apple Mail for Ventura. However, I've disabled this function (in Apple Mail > Preferences > Activate message follow-up) and Apple Mail still shows me sent messages in my inbox, which I've sent a few days ago.

Apple, let me disable this feature. I don't want to be reminded of sent emails which didn't get a reply, at least not in my inbox.

Note that I Bcc myself on all emails I send, if that makes a difference.
