Can't turn off iPad Pro via power button

Hi I’m pressing and holding the power button but the iPad does not turn off I can only turn it off from the settings, how can I turn it off by the power button?

The power / sleep button only turns off the screen.

If you must turn it off completely, hold down the volume up and the power button together until the slider appears, then swipe the slider to turn off the iPad.

Normally it is not necessary to completely turn off the iPad.
