Refund giftcard

I mistakenly used the US Apple store instead of the local one purchasing a gift card.

(Google search led to US Store - which happily accepted my Apple ID and creditcard).

Now the regional restrictions prevent me from redeeming the gift card, and, after spending a couple of hours speaking to 6 support agents, both in US and, locally, it does not seem to be a way to refund this purchase:

If I understand support correctly purchase cannot be refunded since it's "delivered".

But delivered or not, I cannot actually use the item so a refund seems perfectly in order...

The Apple Support article: Check your Apple ID balance - Check your Apple Account balance - Apple Support says:

"About unused Apple ID balance

You can't redeem or return Apple Gift Cards, App Store & iTunes Gift Cards, or unused Apple ID balance for cash, except as required by law. If your jurisdiction allows for refund of redeemed gift balances, you can contact Apple Support [ Contact - Official Apple Support ] to request a refund."

And the document: Add money to Apple Cash Add money to Apple Cash - Apple Support says:

"You can't add money from a gift card, even if it's already in Wallet."

It sounds like you have already asked Apple but if you wish to again...

Click here --> Choose your country or region - Official Apple Support Select your country, then a product. If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.

I understand the policy not allowing turning giftcards into dollars.

This is slightly different though:

Apple has sold a product which I cannot use due to their policy - and they are still not allowing a refund.

Invalidating the giftcard and refunding me should not be any problem for Apple.

This behavior is something i would expect from other parts of the world and not Apple.
