Capitalization on the second word after "I" only on email. Why and how can I stop it.

When I type on email a sentence that begins with I, the second word after automatically capitalizes. It has been going on for years. I either leave it or I go back and correct it.

Hi nanhebert,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities!

Disabling Auto- Capitalization in your keyboard settings may help resolve this.

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap General > Keyboard
  3. Turn off Auto- Capitalization

How to use Auto-Correction and predictive text on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Hope that helps!

Good afternoon nanhebert,

We understand if you don't want to turn off Auto-Correction permanently. But it is a valid troubleshooting step to turn off the feature and use the iPhone for an hour or so. Then restart your iPhone to refresh it and enable Auto-Correction again. Let us know the results.

Take care.
