Photo Library update after updating to Ventura
I am running Ventura 13.0.1 on my 2017 iMac. I have many Photo libraries, that I keep on external hard drives. The drives are all formatted Mac OS Extended Journaled. I have permissions to read and write, as myself. I have three drives that have 10 different libraries (by year/years). I have an identical set as backup (so a total of 20 libraries on six drives).
The update was quick and successful on 16 of the libraries on four of the drives. A majority of these libraries did not have RAW file formats and they updated quickly. The most recent libraries for 2020, 2021 and 2022 included RAW, and updated just fine.
I tried to open the libraries that are on these two remaining drives, and they got stuck updating at 0% or 10%. One drive is a backup of the other one (there are two libraries on each drive). I bailed on these attempts by closing Photos. I read that changing permissions on the drive to add "admin" and "apply to enclosed items" helped others that were having this issue, so I did that on one of the drives. I opened one of the libraries (2015-2017) on that drive and it quickly went to 21% and has sat there for almost an hour with no progress. ( I don't think this library has RAW files - so I don't think that's the issue - and the newer libraries with RAW files updated quickly).
I don't know if I should let it keep running, or if I should close the program. I'm worried that by closing the program when it was trying to update, I may have messed the library/libraries up on these drives --- and I've lost track of which libraries I've tried to open and then closed.
It seems weird that I'm having the same problem on the two drives that have the same libraries. They have worked fine before this update.
Any advice?
