Gift card scam

Unfortunately, my husband was targeted and did purchase a $200 gift card for a “friend.” Thank God he had the thought to make his friend CALL him to get the details on the card. But now we’re stuck with a gift card we don’t need. Is there a way to split up the amounts to give to others people? If I load the amount onto onto my own apple account or into my wallet can I send out money that way? We’re thinking kid gifts!
