Change Photos storage place

I use iCloud Drive for all my data.

( iMac , iPhone, iPad .... )

Also all data storage in my local iMac. ( And iPhone iPad )

80% of my local iMac storage is the Photos Data ( Photos Library.photoslibrary File).

Can I move this file to external HD connected to the iMac ( With higher storage capacity ) ?WITHOUT changing my present Data management ( iCloud Drive , Time Machine Backups and so on ... ) ?

As I prefer to save my Photos data separate from my iMac.

thanks in advance.

A detailed guide how to move the Photos Library to an external volume is here: Move your Photos library to save space on your Mac - Apple Support

And do not use your Time Machine volume to store the Photos Library, or Photos will get problems with the file ownership and Time Machine cannot backup the library.
