User group is greyed and no padlock to Unlock 13.0.1 (22A400)

I have a macbook with OS as captioned. I wanted to change my login options and suddenly find a new look of System Preferences and no option to navigate to the Login screen. Pressing the Admin user does nothing. I browsed through the forum but nothing similar. There is no padlock symbol either, which is what most posts recommend. Has it something to do with an update?

Hi AnilBagga,

To make change to a user with macOS Ventura 13, you will need to tap on the info icon "i" to the right of the user account. For more information on this check out these resources:

  1. Change Users & Groups settings on Mac
  2. Change User settings on Mac

Take care.

You are in an administrative user account, right?

If you don't get this menu next to the Automatically Login As

give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.
