After Ventura update I no longer see albums in Photos when trying to upload to other sites eg Facebook, Twitter. All I see is a dump of all photos which is unusable. I know that there is a photo browser button in Mail but that is no help here. what is the solution? is this a feature or a bug?

As you've been told it's a bug. One workaround is to add an easily and unique searchable word to the title of the images you want to upload. Then you can find them with a simple search in the upload window,

I know it's a bug. This side of the Atlantic it's called irony :-) . I have completed a feedback form so we'll see.
Can't believe Apple hasn't addressed this yet. 👎🏻
Most people would call it a bug.
One work-around would be to export the selected pictures to a folder, on the desktop maybe, and upload from there.
Another is to give the selected pictures a unique title and then use the search feature in the upload dialog box. Or you could just note the file names and use those in the search box.

The workaround you suggest is what I'm using, but I like a clear desktop, also I have more than 20,000 pictures in Photos so I would really like it to work as it did before! I have completed a feedback form so we'll see.
After Ventura update inserting from Photos is no longer practical because albums are not shown
