The Search Box has disappeared from the top right hand corner of the Finder window. I now have to locate the search box with three clicks Finder> File> Find
Can somebody please tell me how to make the search box a permanent feature of the Finder window again.

That's odd. Try booting into Safe Mode then restart normally. That sometimes will fix weird glitches.

You have to click the magnifying glass symbol.
Ah, that's the problem. The magnifying glass has gone too. Both the box and the icon have disappeared.
Just to add, the box doesn't appear until you click the magnifying glass.
Did as you suggested, booted into Safe Mode and then restarted normally, and problem solved. Magnifying glass is back! Thanks
