2017 Intel iMac stopped detecting Studio Display

I have a 2017 Intel iMac w/Studio Display attached. No problems with Studio under MacOs 12 and now 13.1. Used it several hours today but this evening, the system woke up from sleep and did not detect the Studio. Power is good and I swapped Thunderbolt cables, but the system still does not detect the external display. Ideas?

First, try to restart your Mac.


If the issue persists, test in Safe mode. Safe mode can help you to determine whether an issue is caused by software that loads as your Mac starts up: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support.


Since you have an Intel Mac, resetting the SMC and NVRAM may also help:
