iMovie, where are my files?

OSX 10.11.6, iMovie 10.1.6, I opened iMovie after not having used it for a while, and the app behaved as if it was the first time I opened it. None of my previous files are visible. I'm sure they're on the computer. . . somewhere. Worst case, I can find them via Time Machine... Where do I find my previous iMovie files and how do I link them to the application? Thanks!

What you describe is what would happen if iMovie updated in a new, blank, library. If this is the case, your projects would be located in the old library in which they were created. Likely the old library is located in the Movies folder (unless you moved it somewhere else) at Go/Home/Movies on your Mac. If this may be the case, close iMovie and then double-click on the old library's icon. iMovie will then open in the old library and your projects should be intact.

Another thing to try is to go to the iMovie app projects browser screen in your iMovie app and make sure that you are in the right library and have selected to display All Projects. Click on the little option box at the top of the screen and a menu will pop up.
