Unable to log in to the App store on Mac OS X Yosemite to download Mac OS El Capitan. Two Factor authentication prevents log on and says apple ID and password are incorrect. HELP.

Desperately fighting to reload Mac OS's after my High Sierra crashed on a Macbook Pro mid-2010. The App store does not like two factor authentication and will not allow me to sign in to get the downloads. The Apple Support site versions of old OS's do not pass check sum and fail to install. Need help getting a new copy of El Capitan so I can hopefully find Sierra and then finally reload High Sierra.

You can get macOS 10.11 from Apple from outside the App Store by using the instructions in this Apple article:

How to download macOS - Apple Support

Make sure to read the instructions carefully, as there are several steps required to successfully extract the real installer into the Applications folder.

Here is another Apple article with optional instructions for creating a bootable macOS USB installer which can give you more options if something goes wrong during the upgrade:

Create a bootable installer for macOS - Apple Support

Make sure to have a good backup before attempting to upgrade macOS just in case something goes wrong during the upgrade.
