Numbers/Split Screen

This is directed primarily at Apple - I've seen a number of inquiries over the past few years re. split screens in Numbers, i.e. side-by-side looks at the same worksheet (different areas), or two worksheets in the same workbook, or two different workbooks. I see nothing that remotely approaches Excel's very simple use of multiple windows.

This is a huge shortcoming for Numbers and I'm sure many users feel unreasonably constrained in their use of the application. It's time for Apple to get smart on this.

Does anyone disagree or have even a knobby workaround for this miserable limitation?

If so, "this" is posted in the wrong place.

This is a user to user discussion site intended to solve issues met while using Apple devices or software. Your audience here is composed of fellow users of the software and hardware; users who can offer advice on how to use that hardware and software, but have no direct connection with the design and production of either.

Apple provides the space for these user to user discussions of issues, but has only a limited presence here.

Community Specialists monitor for posts without a reply within a certain period (about 24 hours in most cases), and post a reply to those questions, usually one including a reference to one or more knowledge base articles they think are relevant to the question.

Hosts and Moderators monitor for posts that do not follow the Terms of Use agreement every user accepts when registering, and prior to posting here.

Apple Leadership and Product development teams do not participate in these discussions.

Should you wish your comments above to reach the eyes and ears of Apple, this is not the route.

Use the Provide Numbers Feedback menu item in the Numbers menu to make a request that these features be added to/incorporated in Numbers. Feedback messages go directly to Apple, and do (though not in all cases) get forwarded to the development teams of the application(s) discussed in the recommendation.

Yes, it would be nice to be able to simultaneously view/edit two sheets of the same document.

Another possible workaround is to go to iCloud.com and open the document in Numbers for iCloud as well as Numbers for Mac.

For this to work you need to store your Numbers documents in iCloud Drive.

Also, there is a noticeable delay between the time you make a change and the documents sync, which may make this approach impractical for you.

I agree that the ability to view more than one sheet/area at a time would be useful.

A semi-workaround is to duplicate the document so you can view it and the original side by side. However, it will not be a dynamic version that changes with changes made to the original, it will be a static version of the original document. (You discard the duplicate when you are done).
