Notes won’t synch to iCloud

My notes app will not synch to my iCloud account. The only Folder category available is shown as “On My iPhone”. I have turned on the “Synch this iPhone” in the iCloud->Notes settings. I’ve also tried restarting my iPhone and uninstalling/reinstalling the Notes app multiple times. This issue also causes a problem with opening any note someone tries to share with me.

Found the solution: I didn’t have an iCloud email setup and I had uninstalled the Mail app. Once I installed the Mail app, turned on iCloud -> Mail, then setup an iCloud email address the Notes app was able to connect to iCloud.
