Because Pages performs a translation from Pages internal document format to what it believes is a Word layout, there is room for discrepancy in the exported Word document that may not appear to Word users as it does to you in Pages.

My recommendation for sharing documents with Word users is to use Word, not Pages. That allows you to receive, open, edit, and save native Word documents without the two translations involved in Pages.

If the recipients have MS Word v16.31 or later, you can send them a PDF which they can open in Word and convert to a Word document. The content of this Word document will be much closer to what you see in Pages than as a result of the export translation process to generate a Word document.
