PDF attachment on email won’t download

I have purchased a new iPhone and my emails where transferred but the pdf attachments will not download.

Unable to download mail attachments since upgrade I have an iPhone 12 Pro Plus and have just upgraded to iOS 16 but the Mail app will no longer download any attachments (new or old). Just says not downloaded from the server or where it’s say a pdf it says tap to download and never does. Just to add I’ve also now noticed that for emails prior to the upgrade I can’t even read the email now either it just says message not downloaded from the server.

Download where?

Do you mean open?

Ask the sender to send it again in the correct format. Some pdf files open only with Acrobat Reader.
