Why is Goldman-Sachs holding my money for so long without an escalation path?
I’ve seen this post here already. Using the Apple Card, and I was an idiot and forgot to make a payment using Apple Cash, and now my payment is on hold for 2 weeks, and I have no recourse. In times past, when I was dealing with banks and there was concern about a large check clearing, I could escalate and have bank representatives speak with each other, provide confirmation of the availability of funds, and the hold would be expedited/lifted.
it wasn’t until I hit the submit button on my payment, that I realized I should have made the payment through Apple Cash. I tried calling customer service to reverse the payment, but apparently the system had already processed the payment and it was not reversible. I was told the funds would be made available the next day and not to worry.
this was an unfortunate lie. While I’m sure it was an honest mistake when I called back to find out why the funds had not been released yet, I was told a hold had been placed on the payment and that it would only be lifted January 11.
I’ve escalated the issue to an “advocacy group” which doesn’t sound like it will be helpful.
surely there’s a path towards addressing the issue. Most banks do thos, and while I’m fine with a hold to a certain degree, two weeks is ridiculous in this day and age. I work with ACH and credit systems as part of my full time employment. There isn’t an excusable reason for a verification process to take that long in the 21st century.
so the question: Besides never ever ever ever using a payment method other than Apple Cash for this card ever agaIn is there any advice or escalation path to address this issue? Having $7000 in limbo is nerve wracking from an OCD standpoint and I’d really be thankful to have it fixed sooner than later. This just feels like Neanderthal banking policy. I have other credit lines and bank accounts. I like the white titanium card, but after this experience I want nothing to do with this company.
