Apple ID password compromised

I received an email last night that someone had tried to change my Apple ID password. I manually navigated to the Apple website (didn't click on the link in the email) and changed my password. Snapchat also appeared on my phone after all of this. This morning I have tons of messages about many of my accounts that there have been data leaks. Is something going on? I'm afraid to change all of my passwords for fear that this is all a scam.
