PDF's preview in email (mail app MacOS) Ventura 13.1

Didn't find actual information about how mail app do a preview of a PDF file.

I am a little afraid of because I got a spam email with one-page PDF file which was previewed by mail application. Message was only selected, has not been opened, file also has not been opened.

I know that PDF, JPG and so on files can contain malicious data.

1. How mail app makes this preview (when I just one-clicked email)?

Does it use sandbox or something like this?

2. Is it dangerous to preview this way PDF, JPG and so on files in mail?

I use the latest version of MacOS (Ventura 13.1).

I am talking about usual type of work with mail app.

For example I have a couple emails in inbox folder and then I click it one by one.

Screen have three different part. Folders in left side, mails in selected folder on the middle and preview of selected mail on the right.

And I am interested of this right one part, where is a preview of pdf file and as it is one-page pdf - mail app shows it to me as a picture in this exact mail.

How mail app makes this picture from pdf file?

Is way by which app make this picture from PDF dangerous if this PDF contains malicious data?

Sorry if I don't explain well, english is not my mother language
