Folders won't open when double clicking on an icon.

Not sure why this is happening? I've never messed around with the setting and haven't paired my Mac with a mouse or anything. To open a file or anything of the sort, I have to 'right click' it and press open. It's not that much of an issue to be fair, but it is annoying.

Perhaps the problem is just that the set speed for a double-click is too high - meaning that what you perceive as a double click is interpreted by the system as two separate clicks.

Go to System Preferences->Accessibility->Pointer Control, and adjust the double-click speed.
