Getting rid of the red notification badge on the settings app icon

Hello,

Please let me know if there is any way to get rid of the red notification badge on the settings app in macOS 13.1 and the message saying 'Some account services will not be available until you sign in again' .

I've have had my macbook air registered on my icloud account but I've signed out of it as I realised I don't need the features the account provides, I've also had removed it from the account as well.

I know I cannot access services like app store without an account and I don't need them as I install the .dmg packages from official sources instead and other features that I do not need nor use anyways like 'find my device' thing, so I prefer to use my macbook without an icloud account.

The interesting thing is that after I've removed the account and the device from the account for a week or so that notification did not showed up but now it does.

Is there any way of getting rid of the red badge and notification under settings app?

Thank you in advance,

Best Regards,

Alex

Don't judge me, I am new to macOS.

Should I expect other (more intrusive) notifications in the future other than the one in the settings app and the top-right corner notification regarding apple ID which appears from time to time?

Is there any hidden option/knob to silence those notifications?

"most of the time..." I don't think we plan on lost or stolen no matter how careful...

AppleID is one way to recover from a Mac being locked if it were to happen, nefarious or user error.

I have never heard of a single issue with AppleID compromised by some means being signed in...

Being logged in to AppleID/iCloud is how Apple server communicate with your Mac for security updates, etc.

Your computer is always reaching back to Apple servers behind the scenes.

Apple uses its Software Update service (which also drives the system software updates  as a mechanism for installing “background and critical” updates that are installed silently in the background with no notifications to the user.

You are not re-inventing the wheel, or the security features built-into your Mac, the macOS, or iCloud.

Suit yourself "new to macOS" if you know better, I am certainly not in the business of judging people, only providing information.

You will have to simply ignore any red badge notices. Full stop

Finally the notification went away after about 3-4 weeks or so, no workarounds needed, it just went away by itself eventually

Despite this insignificant little inconvenience it's a great little laptop.

Again for those concerned, it updates just fine without an apple account, as usual through the settings app, without downloading the update online then manually install it or something like that, already went through 2 updates with no issues without using an apple account

Hope my experience was helpful for others as well

Cheers.

Whether you use features are not— it seems short sighted to not be signed into your AppleID.

There is no downside that I can think off...(?)

One example is the Find My App feature which protects your devices if lost or stolen..

Check your Apple ID device list to see where you're signed in

Hello Leroy,

Thank you for your answer.

I am very careful with my belongings I never had any of my belongings either lost or stolen, also I tend to keep y laptops home most of the time. I use a local password, as I do on my linux computer, that's enough security for my case and something that I am very familiar with

For all those concerned about the apple id and updates, it still updates with no issues even without an apple id, just updated from macos 13.1 to 13.2, without an account so this works fine as far as I've seen.

For people like me who find the mouse acceleration annoying you can install linear mouse, also this application lets you choose to disable the mouse pointer acceleration only for the bluetooth mouse (which in my case is an 'aftermarket' one rather than the apple mouse) and not for the touchpad, as this is bad when using a mouse and good when using the touchpad.

As for now I've learned to ignore the sign in notification but in case I do find a workaround for that I hope I'll remember to post it here as well.
