"Switch to Desktop 2" not working

macOS 13.2, Apple M1 Max.

All the other Mission Control shortcuts work. If I have the prefs open and type ^2 I see the "^2" blink. The blink is briefly flashing the symbols for "control option shift command ]". Sometimes it sticks and doesn't go back to ^2. This only happens on ^2 and ^3 and NONE of the other shortcuts.

I have rebooted numerous times.

If I assign it to another key, the same thing happens.

I have tried the workaround others here mentioned, create a new desktop.

I have tried creating a new desktop and making that new desktop #2.

I have tried rearranging the desktops.

Stage manager is off. I tried turning it on, but it doesn't work.

This started happening after I updated to 13.2 (from 12.5).

This is driving me insane. I rely on those shortcuts far more than I thought.

Solved.

  1. Delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist
  2. reboot

Thanks to BeterTouchTool's Andreas H.
