Screenshot directions

The web site states to use command-shift-3 for screenshots. The pulldown help menu states to use command-shift-5. Using 5 allows you to take a shot of only part of the screen. But using 5 also leaves a white box outline on the screen that can only be removed by restart.

Is this a bug or are the pulldown directions out of date?

The support document you posted from, states it was last updated in July of 2022. So it's fairly current.

You can use either command+shift+3, command+shift+4 or command+shift+5 to take a screen shot.

command+shift+3 , takes a screen shot of the entire screen.

command+shift+4 lets you select a specific area.

command+shift+5 gives you more options, including selecting which type of screen shot from the 2 above you want plus taking a screen shot of a specific window, making a video recording the screen, or changing the output options of the screen shot.

It should not leave an outline after the screen shot has been taken. That sounds like a glitch or bug on your specific Mac.
