Apple Watch built-in countdown app

I use the countdown on my watch(series 8) every day. I start it with Siri. Today it stated, that the app Countdown was not installed. I then asked my friend, who has an old watch(series 4) to start a countdown so the pizza didn't get burned. She got the same odd message. The app countdown is not installed.

We both can start the countdown app and it works well, but Siri is totally bugged today. Anyone else got the same problem ?

In English it would be "Timer" not "Countdown" but your native language version may be different

I was able to test "Hey Siri, set a timer for 5 minutes" on my Apple Watch, using watchOS 9.3 and it worked as expected. Have a look at the article below for help with Siri on your Apple Watch. Go through the steps listed under section titled "If Siri doesn't respond or asks you to try again", and then test to see if the issue persists.

Use Siri on your Apple Watch

There is a progressive hierarchy of  remedies...

First force restart the Watch

i.e. press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, then release both buttons when you see the Apple logo.

Then, although it may seem irrelevant, while it is restarting Force Restart the paired iphone   Force restart iPhone – Apple Support (UK)

Test it for a while. If it is still misbehaving... Unpair and set up again

Unpair and erase your Apple Watch – Apple Support (UK)

and then

Set up your Apple Watch – Apple Support (UK)

You may also want to make sure the software on the watch and iphone  are both up to date.
